Luke started out getting 5ml in a feeding tube every 3 hours and an IV. Each day he increased his amount and started doing feedings with a bottle. It is day 5 and he is up to 23 ml and is getting a bottle for every feeding. He can leave the hospital once he is at 30 ml. The first time he ate from the bottle he did pretty good. Each bottle after that he got better and better. With preemies it is hard for them to get the concept of suck, swallow, and breathe. Luke is really good at suck and swallow but he does like to hold his breath a little. That is getting much better though. It cracks me up because he basically takes one big gulp and it's gone. He doesn't mess around, he likes his food. He's a chugger not a sipper....just like his mommy!!
